Meta has announced a new game in the Arkham series is coming, with the Batman Arkham Shadow release date window revealed, giving us an idea of when we can finally play as the Caped Crusader once again.
The return to Rocksteady's beloved and iconic Arkham franchise will be a huge comeback for fans of the series, seemingly being set prior to the events of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which has put a sour taste in many fans of Rocksteady's version of the Dark Knight.
Batman Arkham Shadow release date speculation
Batman Arkham Shadow currently has a release date window of late 2024, and will be exclusive to the Meta Quest 3 headset, one of the best VR headsets on the market. This was confirmed via a Meta blog post and a teaser trailer of the game.
While no concrete date has been revealed just yet, Meta has promised that more information will arrive during Summer Game Fest. However, considering that both Arkham Origins and Arkham VR released in October, we wouldn't be too surprised if Arkham Shadow gets a similar release date.
Batman Arkham Shadow story
There's currently no details on the story of Batman Arkham Shadow, but a few hints imply that its set around the time of Arkham Origins, and the main villain will likely be Ratcatcher.
Firstly, the suit that Batman is wearing in the promotional art for Shadow closely resembles that of the suit from Arkham Origins, as you can see in the image below.
As for the Ratcatcher hints, the teaser trailer and key art for the game has plenty, and I mean plenty of rats, and considering the villain is referenced in the Arkham series a few times, we know he exists within the Arkham universe.
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for further confirmation from Meta before we find out when the story takes place, as well as the main villain of the game. However, as we mentioned in the reveal of Batman Arkham Shadow, we're pretty happy with our theories.
