In the breakout city builder Manor Lords, the Sawpit building is one of the most essential. However, those who have yet to use the tool may not know how to build and use the Sawpit in Manor Lords.

Thankfully, constructing the Sawpit is just as easy as using spears or learning how to craft tools in this awesome new PC game. After all, in a game where you have to debuff homelessness and increase approval, minor construction seems quite easy.

With that said, here’s everything you need to know about Manor Lords Sawpits.

How to build Manor Lords Sawpit

In order to construct the Sawpit for your city, you only need a measly two pieces of timber, at which point you’ll be able to construct the building from your toolbar in just a few clicks under the gathering option.

Once constructed, up to two families can be assigned to the Sawpit to turn timber into planks. This becomes essential for managing the size and scale of your city in the early game, as planks are used in plenty of recipes and other buildings, such as the Church, Manor, Joiner's Workshop, and Blacksmith's Workshop. Just remember that you will still need villagers chopping down trees for timber. Without timber, the Sawpit can't create planks.

How to use the Sawpit in Manor Lords

Thankfully, using the Sawpit is just as easy as constructing it. Once the structure is built and placed in your city, you can simply assign a family or two to the building to start automating its process. (Find out how to assign villagers here.)

In the advanced menu of the Sawpit unit, you can assign an available ox. By doing this, you’ll make sure that new timber is consistently being added to the Sawpit to continue plank production. This will, however, take the oxen away from other tasks, such as construction.

If you don’t want to assign an ox to the Sawpit itself, you’ll have to be a bit more granular. However, it’s best to just have an ox assigned to the Sawpit at all times once you have multiple oxen given how useful planks are.

What do you need the Sawpit for in Manor Lords?

The Manor Lords Sawpit unlocks a variety of other buildings available to construct. By having access to planks, you’ll now be able to build structures such as the Church, Brewery and, of course, the titular Manor. Planks are also a valuable resource used in other buildings, so you'll want to ensure you have a constant stream of plans from your Sawpit as you progress.
