While you’re unlikely to encounter much combat in the early stages, taking the fight to your enemies in Manor Lords becomes a much more common occurrence later in the game - and it can be devastating if you’re not well-equipped. That’s why investing in spears for your militia sooner rather than later is a great choice. Luckily, you’re in the right place to learn all there is to know about Manor Lords spears, including how to get them and how to use them.

As a complex and grounded medieval building sim, it’s safe to say that Manor Lords is often a complicated and confusing experience. From villagers not doing what you thought they would do, to certain resources being rather cumbersome to acquire. Well, the same goes for spears - though their value makes them worthy upgrades. Check out how to craft tools in Manor Lords to find more useful items.

How to Get Spears in Manor Lords

To get spears in Manor Lords, you have to craft them at a Blacksmith’s Workshop using iron slabs and planks. To gain access to the Blacksmith’s Workshop, you need to build a level 2 Burgage plot, however.

Spears aren’t the hardest item to craft in Manor Lords, though it will take you a few hours before you can unlock them. This is because they are only craftable at the Blacksmith’s Workshop, which first requires you to level up a Burgage plot. Therefore, you’ll also need a high Approval rating in general to expand your village and population. After all, you’ll need a blacksmith to work the smithy to craft your requested spears.

Keep in mind that you will also need other structures to get the materials to craft spears in the first place. A Sawpit is used to turn timber into plants, while a Boomery turns iron ore into iron slabs. Set both of these up and you’ll have the raw resources you need for spears flowing in no time.

How to Use Spears in Manor Lords

To use your newly-crafted spears in Manor Lords, you need to create a Spear Militia unit. To do this, you’ll require at least 36 male settlers before you can establish your militia and form a specialized spear unit.

Once you’ve created this spear unit, rallying your troops will have them grab their weapons and ready up for combat. You will also want to craft an equal amount of large shields at a Joiner’s Workshop, as Spear Militia units can use these for defense out in the field. With how costly combat can be in Manor Lords, it’s worth doing before sending a large portion of your population away.

So, get out there and make a Manor Lords spear army to defend your blossoming settlement. And don’t forget about the other Manor Lords military equipment that you can get either.
