Breakdown

  • Originally a Galaxy Store exclusive app, the Samsung customization app Good Lock is being spotted on Google Play Store
  • The app allows you to customize multiple parts of your Samsung Galaxy device
  • Unfortunately, the app is still exclusive to Galaxy devices right now, but Samsung could be testing the waters

The brilliant thing about owning an Android smartphone is that the OS makes it a lot easier to finetune and customize your experience. And, for those of you with a Galaxy, Samsung is making it even easier to customize your smartphone.

While the focus this year has been on the range of Galaxy AI features, even if Galaxy AI is only a trial for those who own an S24 smartphone, the biggest change is that Samsung and Google are working together more closely. And, it seems as part of this partnership, Samsung is rolling out its Good Lock customization app onto the Google Play Store.

Spotted by users on Twitter (via TechRadar), the Good Lock app is now available to download on the Google Play Store in some regions. For those unaware, Good Lock allows you to customize different parts of your Samsung Galaxy, from the lock screen, to the Quick Panel, all the way to applying various themes.

Unfortunately, despite the fact it's on Google Play Store, only Galaxy devices can still use the Good Lock app. Attempting to download it on any other Android devices, such as the Pixel, will spring up an error message on the listing that reads "this phone isn't compatible with this app", thanks to 9to5Google's coverage.

However, it could be a sign that Samsung is starting to roll out support for other Android devices to get some Galaxy-exclusive features on their Pixel, or their OnePlus. Unfortunately, that's not clear right now, but at the very least, it's a lot easier to download Good Lock without having to crawl through that horrible Galaxy Store.
