Breakdown

  • Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is officially Steam Deck Verified months before its launch
  • Persona 3 Reload was also Steam Deck Verified before its launch
  • This enhanced re-release is also coming out on Nintendo Switch, so Deck Verification isn't too surprising

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance doesn’t come out until June this year but the updated Atlus RPG has already been Steam Deck Verified. While we’ve seen games get their verification status before release, it’s still rare to see them get immediately verified months before release.

The game’s Steam page confirmed that this Atlus re-release is Steam Deck Verified, meaning players can start this RPG without tinkering. Granted, players shouldn’t always trust this since it can still launch with issues, but this is a turn-based RPG originally on Switch, so it shouldn’t be too demanding.

It’s worth noting that Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance isn’t the first Atlus game to be Steam Deck Verified from the get-go. February’s Persona 3 Reload was also Deck Verified months before the game’s release and it did play pretty well, minus a few bits of slowdown here and there.

Considering how Vengeance is still coming out on Nintendo Switch, where the first version of the game performed pretty well, Deck verification isn’t too surprising. This updated re-release is also coming out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series, so everyone can enjoy the apocalypse together.

Based on everything revealed thus far, it looks like Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is going to be a huge improvement over the already excellent original game. Much like Persona 5 Royal and Persona 4 Golden, this version takes what made the original good and makes it a lot better. Atlus has confirmed 60fps for more powerful systems, new demons to recruit, and an additional 80 hours of story.

Persona fans picking this up should know that they’re in for a slightly difficult RPG, as the game is more focused on battles and demon recruitments. Luckily, the weakness-based battle system is still on hand here, so fans old and new should find some good fun here.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is coming out on June 14 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
